Shop the Look - Bedroom

This post contains unpaid advertising / affiliate links.

Do you know this: You see a picture on Instagram and fall madly in love with a piece of furniture that is shown on it. You click on the picture to see which brand it is from and notice that no brand has been linked. A little panic rises in you and your inner Sherlock comes to life to search the World Wide Web for exactly that piece of furniture. Because one thing is certain: you absolutely need it and preferably immediately!

Personally, I know the feeling all too well. It's particularly bad when the Sherlock in me is frustrated and realizes that he hasn't done a good job and can't find anything to go with it. So that you don't end up in the same situation with things you've seen in the sky loft, I decided some time ago to write a "Shop the Look" for each room.

Today we're starting with our bedroom, the room that I first had a clear idea of how it should look. In my mind, the bed should be in front of the windows and then just a chair to serve as storage. That's it! I'm not a big fan of filling up the room, which is primarily there to unwind and recharge your batteries.

In this context, it must of course be said that we are very lucky not to have to have a closet in the bedroom. We had originally thought about installing a closet in the sloping ceilings ourselves, but then we asked ourselves how much storage space we actually needed and we rejected the idea.

But where are our clothes now?

Opposite our bedroom is a storage room that was recently used for all kinds of stuff. Since Felix and I try very consciously not to accumulate such stuff, we don't have to. Accordingly, we had a 1 square meter room available, which we converted into a dressing room. You will find out how we went about it shortly here on the blog.

By the way, I'm often asked how I manage to get by with so little stuff. For this reason, I've found a slightly older post for you in which I give tips on decluttering. Just have a look here if you're interested. These tricks have helped me a lot over the years and I'm really glad I don't own so much anymore.

Different than originally thought

But back to the bedroom. You may have already noticed that my original idea of the room doesn't have much to do with the current bedroom. There's a simple reason for that. Before we moved, we already knew that we were going to get Felix's bed for our bedroom. I'm just saying it's 2 meters wide. How brilliant is that?

Since I was a huge fan of his bedside tables myself, there was no question that they should be placed to the left and right of the bed in the sky loft. The heating in front of the windows put a damper on my plans and we placed the bed against the wall on the left. I have to admit now that I like it much better that way anyway. So it was meant to be that way.

Our color choice

One thing that was already decided before the move was the choice of color. Luckily, Felix and I agreed straight away that the entire room should be painted. We chose a gray-beige color from Kolorat , which immediately gave the room a cozy look (color code K/8-11-15-15/T).

You've already heard how enthusiastic I am about our bed. But where does it actually come from? The answer is that it's self-made. Felix built it himself a few years ago, so it's unique. Sorry!

Incidentally, my inner Sherlock also failed with one part of our bedroom: the lamp. Felix bought it some time ago from Soestrene Grene, but that was ages ago and they no longer sell it. I tried to find an alternative, but to no avail. If I ever come across one that has a similar look, I will of course upload it here.

But I have some good news at the end: since one of the most frequently asked questions about the bedroom has always been about our bedside table shelves, I can at least tell you that we have them made by a carpenter in Hamburg and that they are therefore available in our online shop. Yay! You can find out more about this here .
