Shop the Look - Balcony

This post contains both unpaid advertising and advertising for products from old collaborations.

Hey Draussenzimmer! When we viewed the apartment in February, you were definitely a decisive factor in favor of our dream apartment. At first we thought that only my two Acapulco chairs would fit on our balcony in the sky loft, but we quickly realized that we had space for a lot more. It could be worse, I would say! Especially because I hadn't really thought about the topic of 'balconies' until then. I can count myself lucky that I've always had a balcony in all my Hamburg apartments. However, they were usually cut in a tube shape and therefore only ever fit 1, maximum 2 chairs. But this time it was going to be different and there was the opportunity to let off steam.

With the initial situation that the two existing Acapulco chairs should definitely be on our balcony, we had already decided on the look. The color scheme should be black/cream so that we have the option of adding some color with accessories (if we ever feel like it). Basically, two things were important to us when choosing the furniture and decorations:

1. The furniture has to be comfortable! There is nothing worse than uncomfortable balcony furniture. When I look at some outdoor furniture, I get a shiver down my spine when I think about how uncomfortable it must be. Scary!

2. Both the furniture and the decorations must be weatherproof! Let's face it: Felix and I are simply not the type of people who want to do more than put the cushions in and out every time.

With our requirements in mind, we started our search and it quickly became clear to us that we could spend a lot of money on outdoor furniture. For this reason, we decided to build our own flower boxes (you can find the article here ). That way we had a little more money for everything else, which we luckily ended up getting cheaply.

5. Tall drinking glass // 6. Small carafe // 7. Large rattan tray

Finding the right furniture was actually quite easy, as we had thought about the look we wanted the balcony to have beforehand. I think Scandinavian Bohemian is a pretty good description. I always find it easier to create rooms or looks when I have thought about the direction the whole thing should take beforehand. That way, a lot of things can be ruled out straight away.

The first warm days in our outdoor room have actually led us to only want to go on holiday in winter. After all, who needs to travel far when you can get that holiday feeling on your own balcony?
