This press trip was made possible by Malmö Tourism, who covered my travel costs, accommodation and meals. Thank you so much, Malmö!
Hach Malmö,
you have captured my heart! The weekend before last I went to Sweden for the second time. This time I was able to see it in cooperation with Malmö and I can tell you one thing: I am becoming an absolute Sweden lover!
If I were to give you one reason why it's worth going to Malmö, I wouldn't have to think about it for long. Do you know how a city triggers a certain feeling in you? That's what happened to me with Malmö. When you drive into the city, Malmö looks like many cities: industry and residential areas dominate the first moments and you can't immediately tell that there are many small streets with great shops and cafés. Nevertheless, I immediately felt at home and the feeling I've just described was reinforced during the time I was there. For this reason, I can say with complete conviction that Malmö has me wrapped around its little finger!
"Sarah, do you already have a plan for what you want to see in Malmö?" The question came not entirely without justification from Nikolina, my travel partner in crime. I have to admit that I am a fan of going with the flow on city trips, as I have the feeling that you find even more spots that you might not have otherwise come across because they aren't mentioned anywhere. A little preparation never hurts, though, and so after arriving at our first hotel, we sat down and did some research into what might interest us.
That's exactly why I've put together my favorite spots for a trip to Malmö!
Ohboy Hotel!
The hotel is really a hit! Super centrally located and only five minutes from the main train station and city center. I really liked the look: clean Scandinavian with a loft feel and not too much frills! I especially liked the kitchen with the concrete worktop. The hotel furnishings were created in collaboration with local designers and craftsmen. Good thing! Each of the 31 hotel rooms comes with a bicycle, so you can explore the city or go to the nearby beach.

AB Småland
I freaked out for a moment in the shop because I thought it was so great! Funnily enough, it was also a shop that had been mentioned to me several times beforehand. In addition to a café, you can also find lots of great interior pieces, plants and fashion there. A great shop concept with lots of great little details: an absolute must when visiting Malmö! Little tip: be sure to order something to eat in the café: we had lunch there and the food was just yummy!

MJ's
As soon as you take the first step into this hotel, it feels like you are diving into another world. A bar right in the entrance area, as well as an armchair made of flamingo cuddly toys, suggest that this hotel is a little different to many others. Heavy dark furniture, some made of velvet, a colorful carpet that runs through all the hallways and rooms and a pleasant smell give this hotel a very special touch! Not to forget the incredibly great inner courtyard, which also houses the restaurant. Apart from the hotel, MJ's is also known for its bar, which also took my breath away at first. Another absolute must!

Noir coffee culture
For Sunday, Nikolina and I decided not to have breakfast in the hotel, but to try one of the many small cafés in Malmö. We chose Noir because it was right around the corner from our hotel, MJ's. My feedback on the small café can be summed up quite simply: I would have loved to pack it up and take it with me to Hamburg! Apart from the fact that the girls who run the café were really sweet, I also found the clean interior very appealing and the avocado bread was a hit anyway!

Malmö Saluhall
If you want to see lots of beautiful people and delicious food all at once, Malmö Saluhall is the place for you! An indoor food market where you can either buy food directly or eat in one of the restaurants there. If I lived in Malmö, this would be the place where I would spend my Saturdays with my friends. That's exactly how it seemed when we were there: lots of Malmö residents were just sitting there with friends and drinking a glass of wine. Oh, I love places like that!

Ribersborgs Kallbadhus
Have I ever mentioned that I love going to the sauna? It's somehow developed over the years, I would never have imagined it before (my exact words from back then: "Ugh, you see a lot of things there that you don't really want to see!" Haha). If we'd had more time, a visit to Ribersborgs Kallbadhus, which is right on the beach, would definitely have been high on our to-do list! But apart from the fact that you can supposedly have a great sauna and bath there, it's also a great spot to take a look at Malmö and the Turning Torso.

Gamla Västa / The old town
There is a place in Malmö where Nikolina and I really used up the memory card on my camera: Jakob Nilsgatan. A street that could be in a picture book: lots of colorful houses that you would love to peek in to see what they look like inside. I'm guessing it's very beautiful, as the Swedes are pretty good at interiors. In general, Gamla Västa is a beautiful district with several of these photogenic streets.
Miloii
I read about this shop on another blog and I have to honestly admit that we wouldn't have found it otherwise, or we probably wouldn't have gone in. What made us stop by anyway? The other blog mentioned that they have the Ganni brand there and I didn't need to be told twice. I walked out with a new dress, by the way...

Olsson & Gerthel
If there is one shop I would like to have in Hamburg, it is Olsson & Gerthel! I would also like to have a million in my account so I can completely splurge there! I'm just saying Gubi, Menu, HAY, String & Co are represented there with what feels like every product they offer. My heart was beating faster and I took photos of a few styles to keep in mind. Now I just have to work on the millions!

Grandpa
Combining fashion and interior design in one shop seems to be very popular with the Swedes! I liked this shop a lot, which could be because they also had Ganni, but also nice little decorative items.

Turning Torso
Right around the corner from our first hotel, the Ohboy!, we had a direct view of the Turning Torso, a 190 m high office and residential building. The perfect view of the landmark of Malmö's new district Vesta Hamnen can be had from the Kallbadhus.
Turning Torso, Lilla Varvsgatan 14, 211 15 Malmö
Of course, we had other spots on our list that we unfortunately didn't have time to visit:
Bastard, Mäster Johansgatan 11, 211 21 Malmö => I give you a tip: reserve a table, otherwise it will be difficult.
A-VO-CA-DO, Holmgatan 4, 211 45 Malmö => the name alone makes the café worth a visit.
Malmö Konsthall, S:t Johannesgatan 7, 205 80 Malmö => unfortunately a new exhibition was being set up when we were there, so the Konsthall was closed. The bookshop inside was open, though.
Book a Boat, Norra Vallgatan 93, Malmö, Skåne län, Sverige, 211 12 // http://bookaboat.se/en/=> you have the opportunity to rent an environmentally friendly electric boat and sail across the canal. Very cool!
Ribersborg Beach, Ribersborgsstigen 6, 216 13 Limhamn => We would have loved to lie on the beach and just enjoy the view, but unfortunately we didn't have the time.
For me there is absolutely no question that I would like to travel to Malmö again, next time with more time to spare! Have you been there before and do you have any other tips for me? Then please let me know!
