Wohnglück turns 1

Wow! It feels incredible to me that I started this passion project a year ago. I can still remember exactly how I lay in bed in the morning and was so nervous because I knew that something wonderful was about to begin. But then I would never have imagined what really happened this year! When my dear Steffi asked me the week I started my blog what I wanted to achieve in the first six months, I said that I would think it would be incredibly cool to have 2,000 followers by June. That alone was an unrealistic amount for me! And then I just hit 10,000 followers in April! Unfucking-believable!

This blog has given me so many wonderful moments so far - whether it was at an event or alone at home at my desk while I laughed at myself because I celebrated myself completely excessively for a funny sentence (which you probably didn't even find funny in the end. Meow). Not to be forgotten are the people I got to know and, above all, the lovely feedback from the amazing people who follow me. That gives me a lot and I'm very grateful for it! So, before I get all sentimental here, I thought I'd do a little review of the year with my favorite pictures. And that alone is going to be a complete disaster, because I just looked it up and I took around 5,000 pictures last year. Well, cheers, that could be a bit of a long task...

Let's go - 1 year of living happiness, here it is!

December

Blog start, baby! And what do you do first? That's right, paint a wall!

New Year's Eve at my place! I still remember exactly how I thought about setting a clean, Scandinavian table without a lot of frills. Well, as you can see here, it didn't work out very well... But it was all the more cozy!

January

My “Tuesday Favorites” section has gone online. What was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this picture? That this sweater actually survived my move and that I really need to wear it again. Haha, idiot me. No, but seriously: my Tuesday Favorites have become such a permanent fixture that I can't imagine this series no longer existing.

The tiles! Oh, I really like this typical Hamburg old-world charm...

February

In addition to visiting a friend in Düsseldorf, I started having breakfast in various cafes in Hamburg to get new tips for my Tuesday favorites. There are generally worse things, hehe.

March

Ah, the old hallway. Completely exaggerated and unnecessarily large, but somehow it was also quite nice. In March, my hallway wall also had to suffer the same fate and was painted grey.

Another wall that makes me freak out with envy every time I see it! #envyfactorhighthousand

Do you remember? I was able to decorate a friend's holiday apartment and got even more excited than before!

Hamburg, my pearl! What can I say? I just love this view and I still remember that those were the first days I was on the Elbe beach with a friend and we were looking forward to a phenomenal summer. Well, I'll spare myself any further comments about the summer of 2017...

April

I pack my suitcase and take with me…

Me and a dear friend went to Thailand for 3 weeks! And right now, at this very moment, I don't want to say anything other than "Scotty, beam me back, PLEASE!!!"

Yay! While I was basking in the sun in Thailand, I was still a bit busy and started my new section "A weekend with...". One of the first to join in was the lovely Lilli from kitschcanmakeyourich.

May

Copenhagen, you pretty thing! One of the cities I would consider moving to. What a wonderful weekend it was with my darling Steffi!

Spending time with friends in Münster in the best weather. Yes, as I said, at that time we were still waiting for the great summer.

June

Do you remember my souvenir from Copenhagen - the RackBuddy? The combination of the clothes rack and the locker was amazing!

Oh Hamburg, my love!

Another absolute highlight this year was my first press trip (!) to Funen. Yes, you read that right - my blog enabled me to travel to Denmark with other journalists and experience so many great things that I couldn't really believe my luck!

July

Hello 2nd living room! I fell in love with Kropka the first time I visited. Best shop! Go there! Nothing more to say!

When I think back to this year, the first month that comes to mind is July! Why? It describes my current life so well - from elation to absolute disaster, everything was there! Let's start with the basics: Berlin-Croatia-Munich-Croatia-Hamburg. To top it all off, there was a wrongly booked flight, lightning struck the plane, and a fall from a surfboard. The crème de la crème in this case consisted of a fantastic Westwing event, a visit to a trade fair, and a few days' vacation. Sounds like a good mix, don't you think?

August

Before you know it, August was upon us again, and with it a visit to Stuttgart, Dockville, dinner with friends, and a baby shower for a dear friend. Quality time to the thousand!

September

September probably brought the most changes: I quit my old job and had three weeks to myself before starting my new job. I enjoyed it so much that I didn't have to do anything. During this time I think I was the most seen guest at Kropka, oopsala!

And don't forget the prank in the hallway. If I had known at the time that I would be moving out of the apartment at the beginning of November, I would have saved myself the trouble. Damn it!

Another highlight of my first year with the blog was the invitation to the Best of Interior Award ceremony in Munich. Holy cow, when I got the email at the beginning of the year saying I had been nominated, I was simply shocked. I still can't believe that I was able to experience something so amazing after such a short time! And even though I didn't win (which I honestly never expected anyway), my old apartment is now featured in a book. For me, that's probably one of the best memories of the old apartment!

October

In October, things continued with a highlight! The agency Kiss&Tell asked me if I would like to take a look at the Designers Open. Design fair? Go ahead, I didn't have to think twice!

This staircase! I had to add this picture from the blog post "A weekend with karlas_view" because her apartment is simply an absolute highlight! Sigh...

Another little reminder for you from my old kitchen - I don't want to put you off these tiles completely! But yes, you probably already guessed: in October I got confirmation of a new apartment and accordingly it was 'Goodbye old tiles, it was nice with you!'

November

The month of moving! Since I'm going to write a separate post about my move, there are just a few pictures of my new home. What I can say, however, is that I learned a lot this month to wait for some things. That's basically a skill I'm not very good at.

December

Christmas time in the house. Well, OK, for most people. For me, not so much. And that's exactly what I wrote about in the first blog post for Wohnfreude / Szene Hamburg. In future, I will be writing a kind of column once a month for these two platforms. And for me, that is the absolute highlight of this phenomenal year!

It's just amazing what has happened this year! Especially now that I've seen all the pictures again! Now I'm even more excited to see what happens to wohn.glück in the coming year. Whoop whoop, year 2 - I'm ready!
