Art for everyday life – on your table
Imagine: Your breakfast plate, your coffee cup, or the flower vase on the table aren't just everyday objects, but small works of art. This is precisely what the La Pittura collection from Hay, designed by American artist Emma Kohlmann, offers.
Plates, bowls, cups, vases, jugs, and platters – each piece is hand-painted, making it unique. They are made in Sri Lanka, and it is precisely this craftsmanship that ensures no two pieces are identical. The name La Pittura – Italian for "the painting" – is a perfect fit: Here, ceramics become canvas.

Inspiration with history
Emma Kohlmann's designs are inspired by Renaissance apothecary jars and Tuscan ceramics, combined with her own spontaneous painting style. The motifs appear playful, light, and almost as if they simply flowed from her wrist in the moment of painting. This makes the pieces so lively and approachable—nothing appears rigid or over-staged.
