The HAY Mags sofa is a defining piece of modern design – low, modular, and unmistakably HAY. Designed for maximum comfort with minimal details, the Mags combines a clear, architectural form with deep, generous seats that invite you to sink right in. Its timeless profile and versatility have made it one of HAY's most iconic designs.
Which HAY Mags is right for you?

Every HAY Mags sofa is based on a modular system that allows you to design anything – from a classic two- or three-seater to a generous L-shape or a configuration with a chaise longue. You can choose between the Mags – the original, more structured version – or the Mags Soft, which impresses with softer edges and a more relaxed expression. Both designs are also available as a low-armrest version, making them appear even more open and lounge-like.
Mags Sofa FAQs
"Soft" means: softer padding and a cozier sitting experience. There is an additional down layer (down/feathers) over the usual foam area, which makes the whole thing softer and more "sink-in."
The edges are rounded, and the cushions appear looser/more relaxed, not as stretched or taut as with the standard Mags.
The seat height is slightly lower (approx. 37 cm) in the Soft vs. the standard Mags, which can be slightly higher (approx. 40 cm).
Firmer upholstery: no/less down filling, rather clean edges and defined lines. This gives a more structured, "upright" look and a firmer sitting experience. Tendency for a slightly higher seat or seat height.
The HAY Mags sofa series is modular. This means you can combine individual modules, corner modules, chaise longue, and open-end modules to design anything – from a compact two-seater to a large L-shaped sofa. There are pre-configured combinations, or you can individually assemble your sofa from individual modules. We are happy to assist you with this. Simply contact: fragen@studiowohnglueck.de
All HAY Mags sofas are available in a wide selection of upholstery fabrics and colors – including Kvadrat textiles, wool blends, and durable cotton or linen blends. We will gladly provide you with fabric samples upon request so you can find the perfect finish. Samples for loan can be found here.

Absolutely. Since the Mags system is modular, you can specifically choose seat, arm, and corner modules to create your ideal sofa layout. If you need assistance, we would be happy to help you plan a configuration that perfectly suits your space.
Regular vacuuming with a soft brush keeps the fabric in excellent condition. For a more intensive cleaning, a mild upholstery cleaner suitable for the specific cover material is recommended. As all cushion covers are fixed (not removable), professional cleaning is advisable if needed.
Delivery times vary depending on the chosen configuration and fabric, as HAY Mags sofas are made to order. Generally, the delivery time is about 6–8 weeks. We will confirm the estimated delivery date as soon as you place your order. Feel free to contact us in advance for an initial estimate.
