My Moving Tips

Hey,

The big bombshell dropped last week and I announced that I was moving! I've received so many lovely messages, most of them very happy to see my new apartment, but I feel like I've received twice as many messages from people who are desperately looking for an apartment, so much so that I've even considered switching to the real estate industry. In my opinion, real estate agents have a very relaxed job in cities like Hamburg - correct me if I'm wrong!

So, let's get to the more important things! More important things for me, hehe. I have 3 empty rooms that I can redesign and you probably know me all too well and know that my head is already going crazy. That's why there will be a blog post with all my inspirations this week. But before I put my money into various online shops, I first had to digest the costs that I would face without feeling like I was getting anything out of it! All I can say is: no stopping signs and Sprinter! Sorry, but why is it so expensive to have signs put up? In the meantime, I've been thinking about the option with 2 chairs and a barrier tape, like we used to. But then some neighbors would probably lynch me! Since I currently live on a one-way street and am moving back to a one-way street, there is unfortunately no way to park the Sprinter in a driveway on either street. So I have to bite the bullet and raid my piggy bank for it. I'm too much of a coward to hope for a space in front of my front door on both streets on that day. Incidentally, I found the "cheapest" option at halt.hamburg. I pay "only" €88 for 15m of no-parking per street, so €176 for both (byee armchair, it would have been nice to have you, but unfortunately I have to pay for signs so I can move. Grmpf!). Here are a few sites where you can get no-parking signs put up for your move:

https://www.halt-hamburg.de
https://www.platzda.de/Halteverbot/Hamburg/
http://www.halteban123.de/halteban-hamburg-beträgern.html
http://www.halteban-fuhrmann.de

The prices vary, of course, depending on the duration and length of the no-parking zone. I entered my details on all the sites and looked at which provider offered the cheapest deal. But I also find it a bit crazy that the prices can vary so much. I wonder who would hire the most expensive one... well, let's wait and see what I say after the move haha.

The Sprinter is the number two cost item! When I was looking for it, my jaw dropped. Even if I wanted to rent the Sprinter for "only" 4 hours, most providers would charge me €100. I don't know if I'm being a bit naive, but I somehow thought that there were cheaper options. That's exactly why I asked for tips on Instagram and I think I got some pretty good ones. And since I'm nice, I'm sharing them with you too, hehe.

Ikea

from 29.00€/hour, all further information can be found here:

Star Car

from 105€/day, all further information can be found here: https://www.starcar.de/reservierung/schritt-1/?reservation=r59e64263c7e627.98188565

free-your-stuff

Online platform for everyone who wants to give something away or receive something as a gift. I find the site ideal for small items or for looking for moving boxes. You can get more information here: https://www.free-your-stuff.com/de/hamburg

Ebay classifieds

I don't think I need to explain it any further haha. I've received this tip from a lot of people, because you can be lucky enough to find a provider who comes directly with a Sprinter and offers to help you move. The prices vary, of course. You can find out more here: https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/erfahrene-umzugshelfer-mit-oder-ohne-lkw-auch-kurzfristig/734695479-296-9430

Carisma Altona

from 49€/day. A provider that is definitely high on my list of favorites. You can find all further information here: http://www.carisma-mobil.de/fahrzeuge/transporter

drivy.de

With the slogan "Rent cars from next door" you can find cars that are rented privately. I would be in with a price of 85€. You can find out more here: https://www.drivy.de/autovermietung/hamburg/

Move24

Complete move from 255€, which includes a van plus moving helpers. For me, this is not very exciting, but if you want to know more, have a look here: https://www.move24.com/de-de/booking

OBI

Since you often go to the hardware store when moving, it makes sense to rent a Sprinter there. You can get all the conditions for this at your local OBI. As soon as I get the information there, I will add it here. https://www.obi.de/baumarkt/services/markt-services/transporter-vermietung/

shared car

you have to register here to be able to use the portal. To be honest, I didn't do that because other offers appealed to me more directly. But if that's an option for you, take a look here: https://www.teilauto.net

check24

I think everyone knows it (from advertising. I always have this slogan in my head). Here the cheapest offer for my request was 119.00€ and that would be through Avis. https://mietwagen.check24.de/cars/list/request/6jys6cqqvgmxle5mp1

Möbeltaxi Hamburg

The name says it all and is right up there with me! Here you pay by the ring within Hamburg:

You can find all further information here: http://www.möbeltaxi-hh.de/index.html

Transfix

Here too, you pay per zone in Hamburg. I would be in zone yellow at €39.90. This means: I have to bring my furniture to the curb, where Transfix will load it and bring it to the curb at the new apartment, where I would then have to carry it into the apartment myself. With this option, I would save myself the cost of the no-parking signs, as they can be loaded and unloaded within 10 minutes. I have now made a non-binding inquiry and will see what hidden costs might be added. As soon as I have them, I will add the price! But you can find everything else here: http://www.transfixhamburg.de/preise.html

So, those were my tips for now on the topic of "unnecessary costs that arise when moving". If you are not moving soon and all of this is of little interest to you, I am still glad that you read everything to the end.
